Back to school, such a highly anticipated, high stress occasion requires tons of preparation, lots of shopping, and certainly some patience. With so much activity and hustle, we wanted to provide a short list of some natural remedies for back to school that might prove helpful in starting off the new school year on a healthy note.
Whether for packing in lunches or after school nourishment, it’s important to have some healthy snacks on hand for all of your hungry little ones—and for yourself, of course. While packaged granola bars might save some time, we assure you after trying these homemade bars from 100 Days of Real Food, you’ll never go store brand again. These snacks are natural and quite nutritional. Try substituting coconut oil for butter for a little flavor enhancement.
With recess on the daily and after-school sports getting going again, you’ll inevitably be in need of some healing powers. As a natural go-to for topical healing, we love honey. Used for hundreds of years as a remedy, honey is good for treating burns, scrapes, and other minor ailments. Honey has antimicrobial properties, which is why it works so well for this purpose. It's great because it's all natural and you can buy it on the cheap—plus, you can feel free to squeeze a little in the morning oatmeal too!
Early wake-up calls become routine for making sure everything gets done before the first bell. It’s a tough transition, and we all know it doesn’t get easier as the schooldays continue. So wake up those tired eyes with some ultra black natural mascara. Slick a coat on the lashes and slap on some lipstick to look fresh for carpool.
Cate McNabb volumizing mascara is one of our favorites.
Maybe not an essential item, but by the end of the day you’ll thank us for this suggestion. Light up some soothing aromatherapy candles and bring everyone back to calm before the craziness of the next day begins. These natural candles burn toxin-free, so breathe deep and relax. It’ll be winter break before you know it ;)
And of course don't forget about the best natural sunscreen!
