Protecting Your Skin in the Sun

Many sunscreens contain active ingredients, which may form “free radicals” when absorbed by the skin. Free radicals potentially cause skin aging and the development of cancer.

Most chemical sunbocks contain, as UVA and UVB blockers, synthetic chemicals such as avobenzone, benzophenone, ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnimate, 2-ethylhexyl salicylate, homosalate, octyl methoxycinnamate, oxybenzone (benzophenone-3) as the active ingredients.

These chemicals are activated by UV light, absorbed by the skin, and produce free radicals. The free radicals then react with other molecules and produce damage to the fats, proteins, and DNA of the cells – the types of damage that produce skin aging and the development of cancer.

Sunology’s unique line of products reflects, rather than absorbs damaging rays of the sun, using naturally-derived Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide in combination with our nourishing FSG Complex that helps prevent the formation of free radicals. Click the tabs above to learn more!
